Preethi Krishnamurthy is a partner in BLB&G’s securities fraud litigation practice. With an extensive background at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (“SEC”), Preethi is a leading figure in holding corporations, executives, and financial professionals accountable for securities fraud and securities-related misconduct. She practices out of BLB&G’s New York office.
During her tenure at the SEC, Preethi most recently served as Co-Regional Trial Counsel for the New York Regional Office, leading the office’s 16 trial attorneys in high-profile cases involving accounting and other securities fraud, insider trading, and broker-dealer misconduct, among other things. Her litigation expertise includes successfully trying jury and bench trials, crafting winning briefs, and negotiating settlements that have recovered substantial funds for investors.
Preethi has played key roles in landmark SEC cases, such as the successful accounting fraud trial against the former chief executive officer of RenaissanceRe, the successful trial against Cantor Fitzgerald’s former global co-head of equities, and market manipulation claims against Archegos Capital Management. Her contributions earned her the SEC’s Phillip A. Loomis, Jr. Award, recognizing her outstanding legal scholarship and draftsmanship.
Prior to her role at the SEC, Preethi honed her litigation skills as an associate at a prominent law firm, focusing on securities and complex financial litigation. She previously served as a law clerk for the Honorable Jed S. Rakoff in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York.
Preethi graduated, cum laude, from Harvard Law School, where she was a Primary Editor of the Harvard Law Review and winner of the Best Brief in the Ames Moot Court Competition. She received her B.A., magna cum laude, from Yale University.
