BLB&G Partner Preethi Krishnamurthy spoke on a panel titled “Cross-Border Risk: U.S. Regulatory Shifts and Their Implications for Canadian Asset Owners,” hosted by the Global Risk Institute in Toronto on October 7. Alongside esteemed professionals, Preethi shared insights on key developments in U.S. securities oversight, including the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC)’s reorganization under the supervision of the Office of Management and Budget, shifts in SEC policies and enforcement priorities, and changes to Delaware corporate law.

Preethi practices securities fraud litigation out of the firm’s New York office, bringing deep experience from her tenure at the SEC. As Co-Regional Trial Counsel for the SEC’s New York Regional Office, she led a team of 16 trial attorneys in high-profile cases involving accounting fraud, insider trading, and broker-dealer misconduct. Preethi also played key roles in landmark trials, including the accounting fraud case against RenaissanceRe’s former CEO, insider trading claims against Cantor Fitzgerald’s former global co-head of equities, and market manipulation charges against Archegos Capital Management. Her work earned her the SEC’s prestigious Phillip A. Loomis, Jr. Award for outstanding legal scholarship and draftsmanship.
