BLB&G Partner John Rizio-Hamilton has been named a “Plaintiff Attorney of the Year” finalist for The National Law Journal’s 2026 Elite Trial Lawyers awards. Winners will be announced at an awards event in New York on July 23.

John serves as Co-Head of BLB&G’s Securities Litigation Department and leads the firm’s client outreach in Canada, advising institutional investor clients on potential securities fraud and investor claims. Recognized as one of the nation’s leading shareholder litigators, John has helped investors recover billions of dollars, playing pivotal roles in several landmark cases, including leading the trial team in the Signet Jewelers Securities Litigation, which secured a $240 million recovery and stands as the first securities fraud class action successfully resolved based on allegations of sexual harassment. He also played a critical role in the Bank of America Securities Litigation, resulting in a $2.425 billion settlement—the largest recovery connected to the subprime meltdown and one of the most significant securities litigation outcomes in history. John also served as counsel on behalf of institutional investor plaintiffs in the Citigroup Bond Litigation, achieving a $730 million recovery, marking the second-largest securities class action settlement for purchasers of debt securities.

John’s accomplishments have earned him prestigious recognition, including being named a “Litigation Trailblazer” by The National Law Journal, a "Litigation Star" by Benchmark Litigation, and a Law360 “Rising Star,” “Legal MVP,” and one of the nation’s “Top Attorneys Under 40.”
