BLB&G Expands European Advisory Team with Appointment of Paul Sweeney as Senior Advisor for the United Kingdom and Ireland

BLB&G is pleased to announce that Paul Sweeney has joined the firm as Senior Advisor for the United Kingdom and Ireland, further strengthening the firm’s European advisory team.

Paul brings more than two decades of experience in asset management, financial regulation, corporate governance, and investor protection. During his 21-year career at L&G Asset Management (“L&G”), the UK’s largest asset manager, he served 18 years as General Counsel while also leading Compliance, Fund Governance, and other key functions. He advised senior management and boards on legal, regulatory, strategic, and governance matters across multiple international jurisdictions.

Widely regarded as one of the leading legal experts in the European asset management industry, Paul has developed significant experience in shareholder litigation and investor recovery matters. While at L&G, he played a leading role in the successful resolution of the landmark Royal Bank of Scotland litigation and was instrumental in initiating litigation against Glencore on behalf of institutional investors.

As Senior Advisor, Paul will work closely with BLB&G’s existing European team to support institutional clients in the UK and Ireland on securities litigation, shareholder recovery, governance, and investor protection initiatives.

Paul joins an established team of European advisors: Anatoli van der Krans, Managing Director for European Investor Relations, with a focus on the Benelux region and Southern Europe; Hans Ek, a senior advisor with a focus on the Nordic countries; Dr. Armin Fary and Dr. Philipp Schlawien, senior advisors who jointly focus on Germany and Austria; and Dr. Carsten Fischer, a senior advisor for Switzerland and Liechtenstein.
