BLB&G Partner Anya Freedman served as a moderator on the panel, “Taking the Wheel: Navigating Together Through Choppy Waters at the SEC” at the California Association of Public Retirement Systems (CALAPRS) General Assembly 2026 on March 10. With nearly a decade of experience as the principal legal advisor to the City of Los Angeles public pension systems, Anya expertly guided panelists as they examined recent SEC developments, addressed the impact of critical regulatory and legal changes, and advised institutional investors and public pension funds on navigating uncertainty and systemic fiduciary risks amid declining government enforcement.
Based in BLB&G’s Los Angeles office, Anya leads the firm’s Fiduciary and Governance Advisory Group. She advises institutional investors on fiduciary law, governance, and portfolio monitoring, equipping them to pursue strategic litigation to recover losses resulting from fraud and other corporate misconduct.
