BLB&G Associate Brittney Balser to Speak on GAPPT Trustee School Panel, “What Happened to This Bank? An Investor’s Perspective on Bank Failures, Contagion, and Fraud”

On September 19, 2023, BLB&G Associate Brittney Balser will speak on the panel “What Happened to This Bank? An Investor’s Perspective on Bank Failures, Contagion, and Fraud” at the Georgia Association of Public Pension Trustees (GAPPT) Annual Trustee School. Along with fellow legal advocates, Brittney will discuss the recent collapse of SVB, Signature Bank, and First Republic, similarities and differences to past financial crises, the role of the SEC and other regulators, and the role funds play in this and similar litigation. The session is one of many offered at this yearly event, continuing the GAPPT’s mission to educate Georgia’s public retirement trustees, plan staff members, and professional service providers on their fiduciary duties.

Brittney is an associate practicing out of the firm’s New York office, prosecuting securities fraud, corporate governance, and shareholder rights litigation on behalf of the firm’s institutional investor clients. She is also a member of the firm’s case development and client advisory group. In addition to her casework, Brittney is a member of the firm’s Diversity Committee, as well as a member of Beyond #MeToo: A Working Group on Corporate Governance, Compliance, and Risk
