June 2007
For the second year in a row, BLB&G has received the top ranking in the field of plaintiff securities litigation in Chambers and Partners' 2007 Guide to America's Leading Lawyers for Business (Chambers).
The practice area, "Litigation-Securities Mainly Plaintiff," was created by Chambers last year to "recognize the importance of a select number of firms who do high-profile work in the area." Chambers' rankings assess the reputations and expertise of business lawyers in 175 countries across the world and are compiled based on thousands of in-depth interviews conducted with clients. Its rankings and directory are available online at www.chambersandpartners.com.
Chambers gives the same level of high praise to BLB&G, citing its transition to "center stage...in securities litigation." According to Chambers, BLB&G took up "permanent residence in the utmost echelon of the plaintiff's Bar" following its multi-billion dollar victory in WorldCom and notes the recent multi-million dollar settlements in Williams, HealthSouth, and Nortel as a measure of the firm's "power and effectiveness." BLB&G is "[d]eemed 'honest and impassioned' by observers...[and] looks set - as time advances - to add even greater luster to an already shining reputation."
In the "Individuals" category for the same practice area, "Litigation - Securities Mainly Plaintiff," Chambers gives BLB&G Partner Max Berger and former partner Sean Coffey the top lawyer ranking for the second year in a row. Dubbed a "formidable duo," Messrs. Berger and Coffey are described as no "stranger(s) to complex disputes that attract high levels of interest."
