Jerry Silk Profiled by Bloomberg Markets Magazine

June 2005

In its June 2005 issue, Bloomberg Markets magazine profiled BLB&G Partner Gerald Silk.  As one of the partners directing the firm's Portfolio Monitoring and Case Evaluation team, Mr. Silk researches potential securities fraud allegations before the firm decides whether to represent a plaintiff in a civil securities case.

The article discusses the investigative aspects of Mr. Silk's work on behalf of institutional and individual investor clients, and how he employs various information technologies to determine what is going on behind the headlines at publicly traded companies.

As the article details, Mr. Silk began his legal career as an associate in the Business and Securities Litigation Department at Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP, where he was primarily involved in defending securities cases and counseling boards of directors on corporate governance matters.  He says that being on the plaintiffs' side suits his personality better:

"I enjoy that you're always thinking about the next move....I really believe in these cases....It's just amazing what some of these people say publicly, and then you start looking at the documents and see what's really going on.  It's also amazing how little they recall at deposition time."
