Doug McKeige and Tony Gelderman Featured in Investment and Pensions Europe on Shareholder Litigation Trends in the U.K. and Europe

January 2006

BLB&G attorneys Doug McKeige and Tony Gelderman were prominently featured in an Investment and Pensions Europe ("IPE") article entitled "What Do Funds Have to Lose?"  The article discusses how European laws are evolving to incorporate some aspects of the American tort system and contains commentary regarding the growing trend of U.S. based law firms looking to provide services abroad, in order to satisfy the demand for foreign institutional investors seeking representation.

The article quotes Mr. Gelderman, Of Counsel to the firm:

"[we] want to make sure that European investors know that our services are here… The pension fund community is realizing that it has a shared responsibility to regulate the marketplace."

Also featured, Mr. McKeige, emphasized how the resources of large defendant corporations and banks require that lead plaintiffs "bring the best [lawyers] against them."

IPE also notes that BLB&G percentage fees are significantly lower than their competitors and that the firm is "known for its good relations with many of the large public funds."  Nearly a quarter of the cases the firm is currently prosecuting are on behalf on European funds.

Unique among its peers, BLB&G has prosecuted many of the largest securities fraud recoveries in history and while the firm does not file a high volume of actions, it is well known for “consistently bringing high-impact cases.” (Institutional Shareholder Services).
