October 11, 2017

Leading insurance solutions provider Advisen hosts a widely viewed quarterly webinar series for the industry on D&O issues.  BLB&G Partner Jeroen van Kwawegen was a featured speaker at this year’s Q3 D&O Claims Trends Webinar. He joined an esteemed panel of experts to discuss Merger and Appraisal Litigation and Insurance Market conditions, among other topics.  In an effort to protect minority shareholders who may feel they are being compelled to give up their shares without their consent, various states, including in particular, Delaware, have created a remedy for “dissenting shareholders,” allowing them to seek a judicial appraisal of the fair value of their shares. Mr. van Kwawegen has prosecuted a number of such high-profile shareholder appraisal actions.

A senior member of the firm’s Corporate Governance Litigation team, his practice also focuses on the fiduciary duties of boards of directors and senior executives, shareholder activism, and regulatory compliance. In addition, Mr. van Kwawegen has prosecuted a variety of securities class actions on behalf of large institutional investors, including numerous matters relating to the credit crisis and disputes regarding the sale of residential mortgage-backed securities. For his professional achievements, he has been recognized as a New York Super Lawyer and a New York "Rising Star" by Thomson Reuters, and a leading practitioner in his field by Legal 500 US.
