Jeroen van Kwawegen Discusses the Future of Corporate Governance at ICGN Conference

BLB&G associate Jeroen van Kwawegen was a featured speaker at ICGN’s “Corporate Governance Change in the Americas” Conference, which was held in Miami, Florida on December 12 -13, 2011.

As a member of the panel entitled, “The Future of Governance in the USA: Reform or Retrenchment?” panel, Mr. Kwawegen discussed the current state of corporate governance in the USA and how it could improve.  Other members of the panel included:

  • Rhonda Brauer, Senior Managing Director - Corproate Governance, Georgeson Inc.;
  • Anne Sheehan, Director of Corporate Governance, CalSTRS; and
  • Michael McCauley, Senior officer, Investment Programs & Governance, Florida State Board Administration (SBA).

Mr. van Kwawegen has litigated a wide array of securities class actons, derivative actions, and breach of fiduciary duty actions, including: In re Wachovia Corp. Securities Litigation ($627 million recovery); Merrill Lynch & Co., Inc Mortgage Pass-Through Litigation ($315 million recovery); and Hughes v. Huron Consulting Group, Inc. ($38 million recovery). He was also a member of the team that prosecuted and achieved unprecedented corporate governance improvements in the Pfizer Derivative Litigation.
