Blair Nicholas Named a “Plaintiffs’ Lawyers Trailblazer” by The National Law Journal

September 6, 2017

Blair Nicholas is one of 15 attorneys nationwide selected to The National Law Journal’s inaugural list of “Plaintiffs’ Lawyers Trailblazers.” According to the publication, Mr. Nicholas was among those recognized not only for their career achievements, but also for their “deep passion and perseverance in pursuit of their mission.”

When interviewed for his profile, he credited his work as a plaintiffs’ lawyer for allowing him to serve the underdog in a capacity related to the financial markets, interests he developed while in college and law school: “[W]hen I had the chance to work for those the financial industry has taken advantage of, I saw it as a perfect opportunity.”

Among other matters, Mr. Nicholas was recognized for his work representing large bond investors against major Wall Street banks in mortgage-backed securities-related litigations, all alleging that that trustees for over 2,200 RMBS trusts “breached contractual, statutory and common law duties owed to the trust and certificate holders.”  The litigations seek to recover “billions in damages and get major industry reforms.”

Mr. Nicholas predicts that private securities litigation will remain an important tool for investors seeking to recover damages due to securities fraud, despite current corporate and political efforts to roll back investor rights.  He believes that as financial regulations and consumer protections are peeled back in the context of historical market highs, “the next wave of corporate fraud scandals is just around the corner.”
