Jonathan Harris

r. Harris has over a decade of experience litigating civil and criminal cases, and prosecuting arbitrations in employment and commercial disputes.  He frequently represents senior executives, partners, and employees of financial institutions and other companies in disputes with their former employers.  Among other matters, Mr. Harris was co-lead trial counsel in O'Meally v. Wachovia Securities and Prudential Securities, (NASD 2006), which resulted in one of the largest monetary judgments ever awarded by an NASD or FINRA panel to an individual broker.  Since 2006, Mr. Harris has successfully obtained over $10 million in judgments and settlements for individual clients.  Mr. Harris also has substantial experience litigating class actions and other securities cases.  Prior to joining BLB&G in 2007, Mr. Harris was Counsel at Curtis, Mallet-Prevost, Colt & Mosle LLP.  After law school, Mr. Harris clerked for the Honorable Thomas P. Griesa, United States District Court for the Southern District of New York.

In 2005, Mr. Harris was lead clemency counsel for death row inmate and Nobel Prize nominee, Stanley "Tookie" Williams, and remains active on issues of executive clemency.  He is the co-author of "Executive Clemency: The Lethal Absence of Hope" (Fall 2007, American University Washington College of Law Criminal Law Brief), and most recently spoke at a panel at Stanford Law School on clemency.  Mr. Harris has appeared on CNN with Paula Zahn, CBS News and other national media programs to discuss issues related to clemency.  Mr. Harris is also the author of a novel, Seizing Amber, published in 2001 by Sourcebook Landmark.

In addition to his representation of individual clients, Mr. Harris is currently a member of the teams prosecuting In re State Street Bank and Trust Co. ERISA Litigation and In Re Yahoo! Inc. Shareholder Litigation.
