David Stickney Discusses Supreme Court Decision in Janus and its Impact on Securities Fraud Suits

BLB&G partner David Stickney was a featured speaker for the ALI-ABA online course entitled, "Supreme Court in Janus Limits Securities Fraud Suits," which was held on July 8, 2011. Representing the plaintiffs' perspective, Mr. Stickney joined other legal counsel from the defense bar to explore the Janus opinion and its implications for those who transact in securities subject to U.S. securities laws.
Mr. Stickney has successfully prosecuted numerous high-profile matters such as In re McKesson Securities Litigation, which settled before trial for a total of $1.023 billion, the largest settlement amount in history for any securities class action within the Ninth Circuit. He is currently representing investors and individuals who were harmed by the fraudulent practices that ultimately led to the subprime mortgage collapse, in a variety of actions against mortgage lenders, investment banks, and other participants. Mr. Stickney was recognized in 2008, 2009 and 2010 as a San Diego Super Lawyer and in the Corporate Counsel edition of Super Lawyers. He was also named as a "Rising Star" in Benchmark: Litigation Directory of America's Lead Litigation Firms and Attorneys, one of only 40 attorneys selected to this list in California.
