Jerry Silk Provides Securities Litigation Update at MAPERS Seminar

February 10, 2011

At a seminar hosted by the Michigan Association of Public Employee Retirement Systems (MAPERS) and sponsored by BLB&G, partner Jerry Silk and former partner Mark Lebovitch participated as featured speakers, discussing recent Supreme Court decisions and their impact on shareholder litigation.  The event was held in Ypsilanti, MI.

Mr. Silk's practice focuses on representing public pension funds and other institutional investors on matters involving federal and state securities laws, accountants' liability and the fiduciary duties of corporate officials.  Mr. Silk oversees the firm's new matter department, in which he, along with a group of financial analysts and investigators, counsels clients on potential legal claims.

Mr. Lebovitch was primarily responsible for the firm's corporate governance litigation practice, focusing on derivative suits and transactional litigation.  He has served as lead counsel in many of the most significant corporate governance actions of the past five years, and is currently serving as a co-lead counsel prosecuting challenges to a management buyout of J. Crew, a private equity buyout of Novell, and derivative suits alleging bad faith conduct by the boards of Johnson & Johnson, BP, plc, and Massey Corporation.
