BLB&G partner Max Berger was a panelist at the Global Justice Forum held at Columbia Law School on October 15-17, 2009 in New York City. The theme of the Forum was “Global Litigation in a Post-Crisis Economic World,” where participants, consisting of expert attorneys from over 35 countries, debated whether regulation or litigation is the best way to reform the financial markets.
On Friday, October 16, Mr. Berger participated in a panel entitled “Financial Fraud – Background & Litigation,” in which he discussed litigation as a tool to help recover some of the staggering investment losses that have resulted from financial fraud. Topics of discussion in other panels included competition and antitrust, mass torts and class actions, and mediation, along with a panel on European and Asian legal issues.
