The Institutional Investor Forum, sponsored by BLB&G, took place in New York City on October 5 & 6, 2006. The twelfth in the series of educational conferences designed for executive directors, trustees, and counsel from public pension systems and other institutional investors, the Forum shared the insights and experiences of the most significant regulators, scholars, attorneys and figures in the fields of institutional investing, corporate governance and securities litigation.
Among other topics, the 2006 Forum, entitled “Recovering Investor Assets: How Institutional Investors Can Fight Back Against Securities Fraud,” featured programs designed to:
- educate public pension funds and other institutional investors in ways to recover significant losses on their portfolios caused by securities law violations;
- minimize the fees and costs paid by institutions for services and products;
- inform attendees of the root causes of frauds like WorldCom, HealthSouth and Refco, the inherent conflicts of interest on Wall Street...and much more.
As in years past, the 2006 Forum featured presentations by esteemed outside speakers including Mississippi Attorney General Jim Hood; and Herb Greenberg, Senior Columnist for Dow Jones’ MarketWatch.
