Legal 500 Names BLB&G First Tier Firm for Plaintiff Securities Litigation for Sixth Year in a Row; Also Names BLB&G Top Firm for M&A Litigation; 10 BLB&G Attorneys Recognized
BLB&G has again been named a first tier firm in securities class action litigation by The Legal 500 USA Guide (“Legal 500”), for the sixth year in a row. BLB&G is the only firm that has been named a first tier firm in the field (“Mass tort and class action: plaintiff representation-securities”) every year since the publication began the rankings six years ago.
In addition, BLB&G has been ranked a top firm in M&A litigation. This is the first time Legal 500 has recognized plaintiff litigation in the “Mergers, acquisitions, and buyouts – M&A: litigation” category.
In the area of securities litigation, Legal 500 credits BLB&G for providing “‘excellent service, a very strong legal team, and highly skilled representation in very difficult cases’, and is ‘one of the best law firms for representing plaintiffs in federal securities class actions.’” The guide also recognizes the firm’s achievements in recovering $315 million for class members in the Merrill Lynch Mortgage Pass-Through Litigation, and for obtaining a settlement of $627 million in In re Wachovia Corp. Securities Litigation.
With regard to its work in mergers, acquisition and buyouts, the guide discusses BLB&G’s prosecution of several cases successfully challenging attempts by the management of public companies to execute transactions at the expense of shareholders.
The Legal 500 identifies partners Max Berger and Steve Singer as “Leading Lawyers” in the “Mass Tort and class action: plaintiff representation – securities” category. According to the guide, “Practice head Max Berger is ‘an excellent strategic thinker and highly skilled negotiator.’” The guide also recommends BLB&G partners Salvatore Graziano, Gerald Silk, David Stickney, and Avi Josefson.
Under the “Mergers, acquisitions and buyouts - M&A: litigation” category, the guide recognizes and recommends BLB&G partners Mark Lebovitch and Blair Nicholas, as well as senior counsel Brett Middleton and Amy Miller, for their achievements in the field.
