Sean Coffey Speaks at Georgetown Law's New York Alumni Luncheon

January 26, 2007- BLB&G Partner Sean Coffey served as Georgetown University's guest speaker at its recent Law Center Alumni Luncheon, which was held at the University Club of New York City.

Mr. Coffey, a Georgetown Law Alumni, discussed America's competitive landscape and the implications of the recent push by the Paulson Committee to scale back recently achieved investor protections.

Mr. Coffey has served as lead trial attorney in two of the most notable fraud cases to go to trial. Mr. Coffey and his team yielded a record breaking recovery for investors of over $6.15 billion in In Re WorldCom Securities Litigation by taking the lone non-settling defendant, WorldCom's former auditor Arthur Andersen, to trial. In another trial against Andersen, this time arising out of the collapse of the Baptist Foundation of Arizona (the largest nonprofit bankruptcy in U.S. history), Mr. Coffey obtained a $217 million settlement--one of the largest amounts ever paid by an accounting firm in civil litigation. Mr. Coffey has also served as court-appointed lead counsel representing investors in the HealthSouth, Nortel, Refco, and Delphi litigations.
