Elliott Weiss Participates in
Roundtable Discussion Sponsored by the Institute for Law and
Economic Policy
Professor
Elliott Weiss, Counsel
for the Firm,
participated
in the
recent Roundtable Discussion for the Reform Proposals for Securities Class
Actions Conference, organized by the Institute for Law and Economic
Policy and held at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina on February 2, 2007.
Professor Weiss engaged in a discussion that focused on specific issues relating
to proposals for reforming securities class actions advanced by the Committee on
Capital Market Regulation and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, including suggested
amendments to certain provisions of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002.
Professor Weiss, a former Charles E. Ares Professor of Law at the University of
Arizona's Rogers College of Law, is regarded as one of America’s top respected
experts in securities and corporate law. He has authored and co-authored
several seminal texts and over 30 influential articles on securities litigation
and corporate law throughout his career. He also was the first
Executive Director of the Investor Responsibility Research Center, where he did
groundbreaking work on institutional investors’ responsibility for corporate
governance issues, and has served as a member of the National Adjudicatory
Council of NASD-Regulation and as a consultant to the United States’ Securities
and Exchange Commission.
