Sean Coffey Discusses New Trends in Securities Litigation at PLUS 2007 D&O Symposium

BLB&G Partner Sean Coffey served as a panelist at the Plus 2007 D&O Symposium on January 31, 2007, which was held at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York City.

Mr. Coffey participated in the panel entitled, "Securities Litigation and Enforcement: Post-Mortem and Prognostications," drawing upon his expertise and practical experience while discussing important trends in class action securities, including declining numbers of securities lawsuits, changes in the plaintiff's bar, issues arising in class action settlements, and important case law developments.

Mr. Coffey was lead trial counsel for the investor Class in the In re WorldCom, Inc. Securities Litigation, which resulted in a settlement of over $6.15 billion. The WorldCom settlement included an unprecedented $24.75 million personal payment by the company's former outside directors -- nearly 20% of the collective net worth of these individuals. The director settlement in WorldCom has sparked considerable debate and has shaken corporate boardrooms across the country.
