The Forum for Institutional Investors - October 2010

The 2010 Forum is currently in the planning stage. Please refer to the Forum website (link below) for up-to-date information on the event.

Our last Forum took place on October 22-23, 2009 at The New York Palace Hotel in New York City and featured an esteemed international faculty discussing key issues affecting the investment industry in light of the credit crisis and the changing political landscape. Faculty members included representatives from the political, legal, academic, media and business sectors, including the Honorable Jim Hood, Attorney General of the State of Mississippi, the Honorable Richard Cordray, Attorney General of the State of Ohio; and Walt Pavlo, founder of Etika, LLC and author of "Stolen Without a Gun", among many others. In addition, the Forum's keynote addresses were delivered by General Colin Powell, USA (Ret.), Former Secretary of State, Arianna Huffington, editor-in-chief of The Huffington Post, and economist and columnist Ben Stein.

The Forum explored vital issues affecting the institutional investor community including:

  • The changing regulatory and legal landscapes that affect institutional investors' holdings
  • How to protect the interests of public pension and institutional portfolios.
  • The future shape of the financial community and the reforms being developed regarding brokerage, banking and executive compensation practices.
  • How institutional investor activism generally, and governance aspects of socially responsible investing in particular, are effecting systemic change within corporate culture globally.
  • Best practices for protecting portfolio assets against securities fraud.
