The Forum for Institutional Investors

BLB&G sponsors the Forum for Institutional Investors, an educational conference for the benefit of the institutional investor community. The 1995 passage of the Private Securities Litigation Reform Act (the "PSLRA") created several obstacles to holding corporate management accountable for wrongdoing and at the same time focused the burden of securities litigation oversight on the large institutional investor plaintiff.

The Forum was conceived as a means to inform institutional investors and their counsel of the ways in which they can best fulfill the increasing responsibilities to, and best protect the assets of, their beneficiaries. Since then, it has evolved into the premiere annual industry conference covering shareholder rights, corporate governance, fiduciary responsibility and securities litigation issues. The Forum features esteemed jurists, journalists, academics, and members of the pension fund community as speakers and attendees.

The Forum for Institutional Investors - October 2008
Protecting Shareholder Value: Recovering Assets and Reforming Corporate Governance Practices

Our most recent Forum, the 13th in the series, was held in New York City on October 11-12, 2007 at the historic Waldorf=Astoria hotel. Our next Forum will be held in New York City on October 23-24, 2008 and is currently in the planning stage. With corporate misconduct, securities fraud and runaway executive compensation roiling the markets, as well as increased efforts to roll-back investor protections, our Forum explores vital issues affecting the institutional investor community including:

The impact of regulatory reforms and efforts to roll back investor protections
How to maximize shareholder value in the transactional context
The limitations faced by foreign investors when pursuing securities litigation in the U.S.
The rising tide of shareholder activism and what it means for institutional investors and public companies

The position of the U.S. capital markets in an increasingly competitive global marketplace
